Choose a layout for your invoices and other documents

Pick from five document layouts in Cybooks. Classic is free; Bordered, Minimal, Modern, and Compact need Premium. Switch in Settings > Document Templates.

Cybooks gives you five document layouts to choose from. Pick one and every invoice, quote, credit note, vendor credit, and receipt you send uses that layout.

Where to find document layouts

Go to Settings > Document Templates. Click on the template you want to change (for example Invoice). The layout picker is at the top of the editor.

Screenshot needed: Settings > Document Templates list page showing the available templates (Invoice, Quote, Credit note, Vendor credit, Receipt). Capture the full settings sidebar plus the template grid.

The five layouts

  • Classic – clean, neutral layout. Available on every plan.

  • Bordered – framed sections for a more formal look.

  • Minimal – stripped-back, lots of white space.

  • Modern – contemporary type and spacing.

  • Compact – tighter rows that fit more line items on a page.

Premium feature. Classic is free on every plan. Bordered, Minimal, Modern, and Compact need a Premium subscription. Locked layouts show a small lock icon, and clicking one opens an upgrade prompt.

Screenshot needed: The layout picker inside a document template editor, showing all five thumbnails with the Premium ones marked locked. Hover over a locked thumbnail so the upgrade tooltip is visible.

How to switch layouts

  1. Open Settings > Document Templates.

  2. Click the template you want to change.

  3. Pick a layout thumbnail. The preview on the right updates straight away.

  4. Click Save.

Save any other edits you have made to the template before you switch layouts. A layout switch reloads the editor with that layout's options.

What changes when you switch layout

Each layout supports a different set of style and field options. When you switch:

  • Some style controls (colour, accent, font size) appear or disappear.

  • Some optional fields are shown or hidden.

  • Margins reset to the layout's defaults unless you have stationery applied.

This is normal. Pick the layout first, then fine-tune the style and fields underneath.

Will my old documents change?

No. Every issued document keeps the layout it was sent with. Switching layouts only affects new documents you create from now on.

Combine with your own letterhead

You can pair any layout with a custom PDF letterhead. See Upload your own letterhead (stationery) for the steps.
